Three Hairs Dream

Three Hairs Dream

I could feel three small hairs on my right cheek. They were barely visible. I grabbed my tweezers and began plucking them. When I got ahold of the first hair and began pulling, it seemed to go on forever. When it finally came out I said, “I’ve never seen one this long before.” I also recognized how strong it was. The second hair I plucked out was a green vine strung with white flowers. The third hair had a blue, invisible, iridescent substance to it. End of dream.

This dream is a picture of the Trinity: The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. The elements of this dream tell me that God, who is One, lives in me and is working through me.

I’ve had several dreams depicting the Trinity and there’s such beauty seeing God revealed so personally, especially when scripture is brought to life in the night.

Saint. John of the Cross said of the Most Blessed Trinity, “You changed death to life," because all of them work together; and accordingly it attributes everything to one, and everything to all.” The Living Flame of Love

Interpretation:

Right cheek: Right in the Bible is symbolic for God having all honor and authority. Jesus sits on the right-hand side of the Father. “ I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.” Ephesians 1:19-21

Hair: Proverbs 16:31 states that hair in the Bible is symbolic for wisdom and glory. “Gray hair is a “crown of glory...” The latter part of this verse reveals how to obtain God’s glory. It is walking in righteousness. “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.” NIV

  • First hair: The long, strong hair represents my Heavenly Father. “One God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.” Ephesians 4:6 “Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;...“ Psalm 147:5

  •  Second hair: The hair with flowers on a vine is a picture of Jesus Christ and who he is to us. The Bible says that “Jesus is the vine, we are the branches.” John 15 Christ has all power and authority in my life and He is the master of the vineyard. I am just one of the workers (branches).

  •  Third hair: Blue, iridescent hair is symbolic for what is heavenly; the Holy Spirit. “Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” John 14:23

Because the hair is on my face, it represents spiritual maturity. The analogy of the parable of the vineyard in John 15 speaks to the willingness of the believer that no matter how mature they are in their faith, “every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:1-2.

It’s my understanding a healthy vineyard needs dead branches cut down, but healthy branches need pruning in order for other branches to be repositioned in order for a vine to be more fruitful. No matter how long you have been a Christian, let God reposition you.

Ask the Lord to reveal areas in your life that need pruning. With the Lord’s help, he will help you to pinpoint areas that may not be obvious. When he does, don’t hesitate to cut it out of your life. You may already know areas that do need pruning. We often do.

The person best positioned to identify what needs cut out of your life in order to produce the best spiritual fruit is Christ Jesus.

The dream reinforces that it is through the power of the Holy Spirit I will see and be willing to relinquish that which God wants to prune and cut out of my life.

The dream also depicts a healthy relationship with the Lord (white flowers). I’m walking in righteousness because I am rooted in God. It’s a beautiful reminder from scripture to remain connected to the vine, God himself, who is the perfect pruner.

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:9-16
