Prophetic Church Dream

Prophetic Church Dream

I woke up from a dream that I was attending a new church. It was dark inside the church and I was walking up the stairs in the sanctuary looking for a place to sit. When I went to sit down, a man introduced himself to me as the CEO of a company. He whispered, “there’s another church down the road that you may like.”

End of dream

It was a Sunday morning when I had this dream. My husband and I had moved into a new area and we were at the beginning stages of looking for a church. We were on our way to visit a church for the first time when I shared my dream with Rick.

We arrived just as worship was beginning. The service was great, the people were friendly, and after the service we took a walk around the building to get an idea of their ministries and programs. As we were preparing to leave, we decided to stop at the welcome desk. We had a very nice chat with a woman in the church who took the time to give us highlights of their programs. As we were saying good-bye, she leaned over the counter and whispered, “there’s another church down the road that you may like.”

Wow, God, Wow! Thank you, Jesus for direction!

I feel the CEO in the dream represents God. God will often speak to us in a whisper and His direction may come in many ways. Listen and obey.

In an unexpected way, God used my dream to put another church on our list of possibilities. A church that we had never heard of before.

We didn’t entertain this dream with a “this is the sign of all signs” where God wants us to commit to. The prophetic dream and confirmation was to “check it out.”

We feel if we were to look at this as “the” sign and quit our search, we are the ones trying to orchestrate God’s prophetic message and plans for our lives. If we try to coordinate things, there’s a higher probability that we’ll mess things up.

“What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.”

God guided our footsteps and the following Sunday we visited the church this woman recommended. We went with the intent that we will continue our search until God tells us where to stop and serve.

The way God spoke clearly in my dream, and confirmed a few hours later, He will do again. I didn’t stop seeking God for direction because of one stunning and unexpected word from the Lord. I think this is where many people make mistakes and miss out on God’s ultimate plan and purpose for their lives. They get one specific Word from God and it’s the be all, end all.

Rick and I will continue to pray for direction. We don’t have to guess where to serve in the church. The key is to listen and follow. “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back.” Psalm 119:105, MSG

I’ll update you when God updates us which church we are to stay at and commit to.
