Deceptive Spirits

Deceptive Spirits

Some put their faith in mediums who claim they speak to spirits in the afterworld. Some seek guidance from loved ones who passed on long ago by consulting psychics. They may conduct seances or play the Ouija board. These are just a few ways in which people create an atmosphere to bring spirits into the presence of those sitting around a table.

Unfortunately, most are deceived into thinking the voices they hear are loved ones. I believe when people seek mediums to call upon a dead family member they may have an encounter of some kind. I believe homes can be filled with a dark, spiritual presence.

I believe when one is convinced they’ve heard from a deceased family member they are hearing directly from Satan and his minions. I don’t find anywhere in scripture they will hear directly from the deceased.

Scripture tells us that Satan roams the earth and that there are invisible principalities at play. Revelation 20:2 states Satan is “the prince of the power of the air.” Ephesians 2:2

He is referred to in Matthew as the enemy. Satan uses his power to give people what they want. He tells them what they want to hear so they will keep coming back for more. He isn’t a friend or someone who has your best interest at heart. Matthew 13:19, 39

You may be a skeptic of what many define as paranormal activity or that it is nothing more than fun and entertainment. Paranormal defined as something related to supernatural phenomena. When someone believes they are seeing and hearing what they consider to be ghosts and unusual phenomena, they are experiencing Satan’s supernatural realm.

We know this because anyone that doesn’t seek to hear the voice of the Living God is following after deceptive spirits. The Bible states “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” I Timothy 4:1

Science proves the Bible. When one dies they are brain dead. They can no longer think or talk. Therefore, it’s illogical to seek the dead for answers. “For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:7

“Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?” Isaiah 8:19

People will go where there is “movement” in the spirit realm. The public is fascinated to hear what psychics and astrologers have to say and when they do, they are opening their souls to the prince of the air. When a spirit is invited, he will gladly enter.

If a person isn’t consulting the Holy Spirit, they are consulting deceptive spirits. That is why many psychics and mediums appear personal and convincing. Satan knows your family history and studies your behaviors. He may know a lot about you, but he does not know you from the inside out. Only God, the Creator, knows every part of your being. God is the only one that can give you the answers you seek. Psalm 139

I think Satan’s tactics are like a drug. He’ll keep you coming back for more, but beware. His intentions are to steal the joy in your life, kill your dreams, and destroy everything you hold dear. John 10:10

“He [Satan] has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

Who do you listen to?

Who do you believe?

What do you believe?

People fear death, darkness, the thought of haunted houses, and ghosts, yet they chase after answers from the unseen, dark world. Sadly, their fear is misplaced. The one to whom they should fear most is God. Read Fear God.

The dark principalities of this world should be taken seriously. When one knows that God is in control and Satan has already been defeated, there is no need to fear what is unseen.

As Christians, we don’t have to fear what the enemy is doing in the spiritual realm, but we can be aware of his tactics. I believe we should be knowledgeable of the ways Satan has distorted and twisted what is happening in the invisible world. The church needs to know “so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.” 2 Corinthians 2:1

In many ways, Satan is outsmarting the church. Billions of dollars are spent on psychics, mediums, and astrologers. In general, western Christianity doesn’t want to hear if and what the Bible has to say about God pouring his spirit out on all people in supernatural ways, including through dreams or speaking prophetically. “That’s not for today.” That’s for the charismatic Christian.” “It’s not for me.”

When the church is willingly uninformed, Satan uses the silence in the church to his advantage, especially when it comes to the Holy Spirit. Satan knows it is the Holy Spirit that transforms lives, communities, and nations.

As believers, we should be outsmarting the enemy by embracing all that God has for us, not dismissing if God is in the midst in a different, even unusual way.

Our Heavenly Father is supernatural and has given us the Holy Spirit as our guide and comforter (John 14). Spend time in God’s presence and let him speak to you personally.

Satan roams buildings and homes and will try to make you think you are hearing from the dead. Don’t fall into his trap. He wants you to believe in another life-form, even if it’s just for fun. But none of it is just for fun. This is serious business. Life and death.

Satan has one end and we know what it will be. My friend, Soumya, said it’s important to remind Satan of this. If you do not know his fate, here it is:

“Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:10

“And I don’t want you to participate with demons. You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord’s Table and at the table of demons, too.” I Corinthians 10:20-21

How do you partner with the devil on a daily basis? It may be obvious or it may be subtle and you don’t recognize it. Take time in prayer and listen to the voice of the Lord. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.

One day as they were worshiping God—they were also fasting as they waited for guidance—the Holy Spirit spoke...
