By faith ...

Jesus told his disciples “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20 and again in Matthew 21:21

I use to ask God regularly to increase my faith. It took several years before I realized my request for an increase of faith was a sign of my unbelief. I wasn’t trusting in what I possessed the moment I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

I’ve had to learn the discipline of prayer and reading the Bible so that my faith rests not on what I see, but on God’s power.  The power of God that is displayed by those in the Old and New Testaments. I Corinthians 2:4-5

Hebrews 11 is often referred to as the "Hall of Faith". It is a list of God’s chosen people from the Old Testament who God used in order to display his power through signs and wonders. It tells of miracles that were initiated because of faith in what they did not see and what they did not understand.

Their faith was in God alone by believing at the moment, what was both seen and unseen. They didn’t ask for an increase of faith. They trusted God when he spoke. Most just wanted God to be with them when they took the steps to do what God was asking them to do.

In some instances, their steps appear to be small and insignificant and for others, God’s requests resulted in a display of epic proportions. Regardless, each took one step at a time. It was because of a bit of faith in the God of gods that, “the rest is history.”

Here’s a list of the faithful actions seen in Hebrews 11 that resulted in incredible miracles. By trusting in God Almighty with one simple step of faith generation after generation has benefited, including yours and mine. Full chapter: Hebrews 11
